Wonderful Welcome Wheat Porter
November 11, 2007 by Mario
This batch was brewed on July 7th, 2007 (yep, 7/7/07) at a party that was supposed to be a chance for freinds to come and meet my new daughter, Kaleigh. Well, she had other plans and didn’t arrive until the 11th. Either way, this brew is for Kaleigh and here’s how it turned out:
As you can see, it looks the part of the porter well. The aroma is of roasty malts and a bit of yeast. First taste is a nice bitterness from the roasted malts that blends well into the hops. Surprisingly light for the color, weeks ago it was too light, but now it keeps the dark complex flavors of a porter without being too heavy. The hop finish might be a little strong for this style, but it is subtle, and doesn’t beat you over the head. I really liked this beer, I figure this will probably be a beer I do again. Went perfectly with the cold drizzly day that we had on Saturday.
