Wine Makes You Dumb, Dummy

If you read this blog regularly, I’m sure you already know that beer is better than wine in just about every way. Now, there is research coming out that not only is beer better (research pending) but it also makes for bigger brains.
Did I say bigger brains? I meant less smaller brains. As you’ve probably heard, alcohol tends to kill brain cells. Specifically, brain mass loss can be seen in the hippocampus, the area of the brain that handles memory, spatial tasks and many other functions. In wine drinkers, the hippocampus was more than 10 percent smaller than those who drank beer.
I should note these studies are being done using alcoholics, not casual drinkers. One theory is that the B Vitamins and folate found in beer help break down a compound known as homocysteine, which s also linked to higher risks of heart disease, strokes, brain atrophy and dementia.
