Global Warming Affects Us All

Melting ice caps? Who cares, I live in California, and far enough away from the ocean. Polar Bears becoming extinct? We all gotta go at some point. Extreme weather patterns? It’s nice and sunny outside here, I don’t buy it. Increased beer prices? My God, this problem is serious. Turn of the lights, recycle that bottle, where can I buy a hybrid?!?!
According to scientists in New Zealand, global warming will lead to increased prices due to a shortage in malted barley. The report comes from Jim Salinger, a climate scientist at New Zealand’s National Institute of Water and Atmospheric Research. Salinger only speaks of the effects on New Zealand and Australia but the effects could be worldwide. He said the drop in beer production wouldn’t be seen for 30 years.
Is it just me or is there a conspiracy against beer. Hop shortages, malt shortages, now longterm forecasts predicting doom and gloom in the malt industry. I think it’s time for the farmers of the world to get their priorities straight. Food, who needs it. Grow barley and hops.
