Last week I sang the praises of the Sam Adams specially designed beer glass. Recently, BevMo began stocking this glass and I was excited. Well, on my most recent trip to the warehouse beverage market, I went on a hunt or the glass. (more…)

The wife left me and the baby tonight. No not for good, she just went to see Sex and the City with her friends. Along with many married men, I was left to fend for myself while the women of the world packed into theaters to watch a movie we have no interest in watching at all. Thankfully, I made a stop by BevMo before she left and grabbed some entertainment for the evening. (more…)

This evening I tried two IPAs from two norcal breweries that we’re all familiar with. I went to my local watering hole, Cato’s in Oakland, they generally have a beer or two amongst the dozen on tap that I’ve never had before. Tonight the two new beers were Sierra Nevada’s Torpedo IPA and Lagunitas’ Lucky 13. (more…)

You know those beers you see on the shelf but never try? Not neceasrily because you think they’re bad, you just always find a better option, or can’t afford the price tag. One of those beers for me is St. Bernardus Abt 12. After hearing a friend rave about the gift pack he purchased, I had to finally make the plunge and pick up a bottle for myself. (more…)

It’s always a pleasure to try fine ales from far way places. Occasionally, you get a chance to drink some brews that normally wouldn’t make it to your neck of the woods. In a case like that, you first thank our modern postal service, then you just sit back, and enjoy. Cheers! (more…)

One of my favorite beer blogs (in case you hadn’t noticed) is written by William Brand. This last week he’s put together quite a few posts that I really liked, but in particular were the two listed below that I wanted to comment on. (more…)

Most of my friends know me as the beer guy. If they have a question about beer, they ask me. Being crazy about beer, I’m always willing to answer and provide more information than anyone would have cared to know. Thanks to this blog I’ve also received questions from other places around the country. One of these questions came from Omaha, Nebraska. (more…)

Time for another Lagunitas seasonal. This time, we were thrown a bit of a curve. According to the schedule released by Lagunitas, we were due to get another Zappa brew, “We’re Only in it for the Money.” Unfortunately, due to issues with the labeling, they had to delay the release. The good news? we get their Lucky #13 Ale a few months early. (more…)

Today’s Memorial Day, and to lighten a pretty somber holiday, I figured I’d look back at a couple brews that are no longer with us. (more…)

Here in the Bay Area, we’re all pretty interested to see what Magic Hat Brewing Company has to offer since word was announced that they would be taking over Pyramid Breweries. Thankfully, I have some friends out on the East Coast and they sent me a bottle of the “not quite Pale Ale” No 9. (more…)
