Fridays are always a slow day at work. My mind is always more on what’s going on over the weekend than on the job at hand. It doesn’t help that the boss has left for Hawaii and my coworkers and I were just standing around talking about basketball. “Steve, where’s the beer?” “I’ll be right back,” and he was out the door.
Right across the street from the office is Safeway (not to mention the liquor store and Longs) so Steve was back within 10 minutes. He had 2 bags in hand. One bag contained tortilla chips and salsa, the other, a 6-pack of Sapporo. Steve likes watery beer, and that’s ok, especially since he was so willing to pay. We all cracked open a beer, then Steve cracked open another inadvertently, as the bag slipped off the chair and resulted in one bottle breaking.
We sat around the table, talked about our weekends and upcoming Father’s Day. Nothing special really, your typical collection of 3 guys hanging out over a couple beers and snacks. It’s been a while since I had a Sapporo, and it’s amazing how little there is to say about it. The salsa and chips easy overpowered any malt (or rice) and hops contained in the beer. That being said, it wasn’t about the beer, it was about Friday afternoon.
Our work being done for the week, we finished our beers and the office quickly emptied. I opened another to experience the Sapporo minus the salsa and chips, still not much there. So I’m finishing up my week, finishing up my beer, and finishing up this post before I head out the door. Have a great weekend everyone!
