A few months back, I noticed that BevMo’s Rogue shelf had run bare. There was Dead Guy, and the Morimoto’s, but not much else. Where had all the Rogue gone. Recently, we were excited to see Dogfish Head hitting the shelves locally in May. Yet as June wears on, we have nothing. What’s going on? (more…)

What really excites me about the craft brewing industry are the anniversary and tribute releases. They are typically only available once and you have to make sure you catch them while you can, or hear other people rave about them, knowing the brew will never pass over your lips. So here’s some news on these special ales that will be coming soon to a beer store near you. (more…)
Are You Nuts?

Some days, you’re just lucky. Saturday, was one of those days for me. I headed to the liquor store looking for a bottle of Red Tail Ale and right inside the door, in a cart marked “Clearance” are two bottles of Rogue’s Hazelnut Brown Nectar, each with an unbelievable sticker, $1.99. (more…)

One of my favorite websites is Woot. It is a daily deal website for gadgets. Basically, it’s one item, one day, one price (presumably low). They have their main site, which features electronic gadgets, Woot Wine, which features (surprise) a weekly wine deal, and Woot Shirt, which features a daily t-shirt. Today, thwey featured a fake beer shirt. (more…)

It’s Father’s Day, so I figured I would honor one of the brews still on the shelf that might be considered (among many) as a forefather of the craft brewing industry. (more…)
Thank God It’s Friday

Fridays are always a slow day at work. My mind is always more on what’s going on over the weekend than on the job at hand. It doesn’t help that the boss has left for Hawaii and my coworkers and I were just standing around talking about basketball. “Steve, where’s the beer?” “I’ll be right back,” and he was out the door. (more…)
R.I.P. Jay Mission

It’s always sad when we lose a member of the brewing community. In most cases, there is someone else who can best express the loss than I, so I will leave it to them. Jay Mission will definitely be missed. (more…)
The Miracles of Beer
Posted in Tastings, tagged Saison Dupont on June 12, 2008 | Leave a Comment »
Plastic. When I think of Dupont, I think plastic and chemicals. Not exactly the best thing to be thinking when shopping for beer. You don’t even drink beer out of plastic, at least you should try to avoid it. But this is different. This is Saison Dupont, and this is a true Belgian farmhouse ale. So despite the connotations of the name Dupont, lets get into this beer. (more…)

A couple weeks ago I mentioned that InBev was looking into acquiring Anheuser-Busch for $46 Billion. Well that number has now become a official. (more…)
