They didn’t exactly crash the festival, they were brought to the festival by Bières Sans Frontières. They stock the International Bar at the GBBF, which includes beers from around the world, not just the U.S.

The award for top American Cask Beer went to The Lost Abbey’s Angel Share. From what I’ve heard about this beer, this is no surprise. I loves this quote from Andy Benson of Bières Sans Frontières:
It’s a great result for Lost Abbey and I’m sure the beer will be a fast-seller at the Festival, just don’t drink too much of it, as it is 12.5% ABV. American beers are often a surprise to the British palate, they are so intensely flavoured that most people either love them or hate them, nothing like the insipid lagers we usually associate with America. The craft beer market in the States is booming and most of these beers are extremely difficult to find this side of the water. Some of the beers are not even available in their own areas in a cask conditioned form.
Here’s the list of beers from the United States that made their way to England for this week’s festival. Very impressive selection. I really wonder how some of the beers went over with the crowd. Ruination Ale probably received a lot of comments.
