The Lagunitas Zappa series has been interesting, that is for sure. I loved the Kill Ugly Radio brew, but the last one didn’t quite do it for me. So I had no idea what to expect when the rumor came out that the “We’re only in it For The Money” brew was going to be a Belgian Triple, something I’d never heard of Lagunitas doing. So after a lot of waiting, “Money” finally hit the shelves, and I made sure I grabbed a bottle for myself.

Agreed – this one IS great. I didn’t even bother to look at the label before pouring and tasting it (since it usually requires a good twenty minutes to kill, going through all the fine print) and was totally taken aback. Whereas it doesn’t really taste like a tripel to me, that’s mostly what I like about it. Doesn’t have that residual sugar taste, that lingering threat of a nasty hangover, but all the other great, spicy elements. And with a hop presence, to boot. What a treat.
I agree. A great one. We were all looking forward to this one and I was the first from my group to find it which meant I got to kill it on my own. I lost my notes but I do remember writing down “juicy fruit gum”. Fortunately I have another in the basement…and you’re right we should be able to find more, although this one will dissapear quicker than the last one in the series. The word is getting out.
Just had another bottle this weekend and jweb, you nailed it. it does taste like Juicy Fruit.
