Back in February, I bought an extra bottle of The Abyss by Deschutes. Originally, this bottle was meant for another. Unfortunately for them, our plans for the exchange fell through repeatedly and we gave up. It was then going to be shared with Wes when he was in town. This one fell through the cracks on a rather busy weekend of drinking. So I was determined to find someone to share this bottle with. I didn’t just find someone, I found many.  (more…)

I talk a lot about the expectations I might have whe trying a beer for the first time. This usually gets me in trouble, as you can never tell what a beer tastes like by looking at a bottle, or reading the brewers description. With all the talk that surrounds Dogfish Head and their 90 Minute IPA, I began to think it was just an East Coast version of Russian River’s Pliny the Elder. There go those stupid expectations, getting me in trouble again.  (more…)

Earlier this morning a large box was delivered to my office. My boss’ wife brought it to me asking “What is it, beer?” I chuckled, wondering how it was she knew the contents of the box.
