Last week I sang the praises of the Sam Adams specially designed beer glass. Recently, BevMo began stocking this glass and I was excited. Well, on my most recent trip to the warehouse beverage market, I went on a hunt or the glass. (more…)

Summertime in Boston

In my house, summer and Boston mean one thing: the Red Sox. My wife loves the Red Sox. It’s all Big Papi, Manny being Manny and Jason Varitek until the last game is played. Being a Giants fan, I am looking for some way to change this, even slightly. My solution, as usual, was to buy beer. I brought home a bottle of Sam Adams Summer Ale to try and change the perception of what summertime in Boston should bring to mind. (more…)

Anyone ever watch the HBO series “Oz?” Remember when O’Reilly and Adebisi ground up glass and fed it to Nino until he died? You didn’t see that? That’s too bad, it was a really interesting series. Why do I mention it? Well it appears Sam Adams is O’Reilly, their bottle manufacturer is Adebisi, and all of us get to play the role of Nino. (more…)

So, apparently, I’m pretty harsh on Sam Adams. Maybe I put down their beers once in a while. Does it mean I think they are bad people? Well it’s obvious they aren’t. Jim Koch choo-choo-choosed all of us for Valentine’s Day by deciding to “share” the bountiful hop contracts of Sam Adams with small brewers. (more…)

I have to apologize. Without being able to drink beer it really is hard to write about beer. A few stories have slipped through the cracks and I felt I should keep everyone up to date. So here are a few quick hits from various news articles. (more…)
Sam Adams’ Holiday Pack and Affligem Noel

Sam Adams (technically the Boston Beer Company) is one of those beer companies that straddles the line between craft and macro brewing. If I have an option between Sam Adams and any of the macros, I’m drinking a Sam Adams. Put it against even the most macro of the micros (Sierra Nevada, Redhook, Fat Tire) and I’m not drinking Sam Adams. So what’s the point of all this? Well, for Christmas I got the chance to try the Sam Adams Holiday pack, or a few selections from it anyways, and here is what I thought. (more…)
