God is Good

For those not familiar with beer brewing history, don’t worry, I’m not changing the theme of this blog.  Back in the dark ages, before we knew of yeast, brewers would make their wort, set it out, and when they saw the saw the signs of fermentation, well, what you had was proof that “God is good.”  What the hell am I talking about?  Well, another example that God is good.  (more…)

Do you like your beer in green bottles with massive advertising budgets? Well then this weekend brings good news for you. Heineken and Carlsberg are buying out Scottish & Newcastle. The deal will be for $15.3 billion. So what does this mean to craft brewers here in the New World? Just about nothing, but beer news is beer news. (more…)

The worst beer I ever had,

To my credit I have had a lot of really great beer in my life, perhaps enough good beer to fill a small swimming pool. However, I have also had my fair share of bad beer and some I would even call truly awful. Everyone has had bad beer before, running out of Anderson Valley in the middle of a beer pong tournament and having to switch to iron city, or getting to a frat party and asking if the keg is “natty ice,” only to learn that once I tasted it I would wish it was “natty ice.” But this is a little story about my gold medal of bad beers. Read a blog from William brand last week that announced the closing of Coast Range Brewing. He went into further detail the next day about the specifics, but when it’s all said and done, a quality brewery is closing the doors.
