I introduced all of you to my collection of glassware not too long ago, and stated I was looking to add a couple specific glasses. Well good news, the search is over.
To give a little background, I’ve been looking for a tulip glass for Belgians for quite some time now. Everywhere I’d go, I’d ask for tulip glasses and I’d get an odd look in return. Nowhere carried them, not Bevmo, not Bottle Barn, I’d even checked places like Target with no luck. The only place I’d found them was online at a specialized beer glass website, where they cost $6 a glass plus shipping. I just couldn’t bring myself to spend that kind of money on glasses I’d be using only occasionally.
This weekend that luck changed, though. Walking the aisles of Cost Plus, I decided to check their glassware again. I looked at their brandy snifters and noticed they had a little more thickeness to the glass and felt this would do just fine. I grabbed two of the 12 ounce glasses and moved on. Trying to catch up to my wife, I found myself in the maragrita glass section and there they were. Labeled Poco Grande were 14 ounce tulip glasses. I didn’t think twice and grabbed two of them. What a find!
There are two real benefits for finding these at Cost Plus. The first is that they are readily available. If I break one, I don’t need to go through this process of searching endlessly. The second was the price. The brandy snifters were $3.99 each and the tulip glasses were $2.99, much better than what would have been close to $10 per glass online.
I almost forgot, there’s a third benefit, being able to share this news with you readers. So get out there and buy a tulip glass.
