I’ve killed Los Angeles in the past. There’s little to no craft brew culture going on in the greater Los Angeles area, and for an area that is home to some 13 million people, that is unacceptable. Apparently, this is not the fault of the beer drinker, as craft beer fans do exist in the Los Angeles area.
So while there are beer fans, there is still a serious lack of breweries. Beer Advocate lists 26 breweries and brewpubs in the Los Angeles area. Of those 26, 7 are closed, 3 are repeat listings and a large majority fall into the “Chili’s with a better beer selection” category.
Los Angeles really needs a local brewery to appease local brew fans, and not rely on San Diego to fill that need.
