If you can’t play, coach. If you can’t play or coach, play fantasy baseball. I play fantasy baseball, and we probably take it more seriously than the game calls for. One example, the placing of wagers on the outcome.
The league I play in is a mixture of people from around the country. Some know each other, some don’t. We’ve been doing this for about 10 years now, with a core of 7-8 guys who have been there the longest and 12 all together. The way we play, each week you get a new opponent. A couple weeks ago, my opponent was Dave.
Dave’s a reader here, so I knew he was a fan of beer. The wager was simple, winner takes home 2 bottles of beer local to the loser. Long story short, I won. But Dave is a pretty cool guy. He didn’t send me two beers, he sent me 4, a nice sampler of beers from Sweetwater Brewing Company in Atlanta. I’ve always wanted to try these beers as I have a lager glass with the Extra Pale Ale logo on the side.
So it looks like I’m drinking southern again next week. Thanks Dave.
