The first one I had was the 7. It changed how I looked at anniversary ales. The next year, for the 8, I was so confident that it would be good, that I got Wes a beer, shirt and pint glass gift pack for his birthday. My only regret was underestimating the demand for the 10, and I never got a bottle for myself. It was a chilly day in the winter of ought-four. The journey to work was made impossible due to ice and inch thick covering my motor vehicle. During the day we kept warm drinking Bloody Marys down the street at the diner and by washing down pitchers of cheap lager at the bowling alley across the street. As night fell the cold temperature plummeted, we would be in need of stronger spirits. To the Fox and Firkin, good cab driver, I hear they are having Trivia Night. (more…)

Uno the beagle has nothing on this weekend’s big winner. For those that don’t know, Toronado’s barleywine festival took place this weekend. This is the biggest of the big barleywine festivals for the biggest of the big beers. So who competed? Who won? And what’s with the dog reference? (more…)
