A few months ago, Anheuser-Busch came out with a new line of products, Chelada. For those who don’t know about this drink, it’s basically a Bloody Mary with beer. The Anheuser-Busch version is made with Clamato, but
you can make it anyway you like. So last night we were having fajitas and I felt an imperial stout wouldn’t be the right beverage. The wife had seen this drink on TV and tried it a few weeks ago and had bought the ingredients, so I figured I would try it myself. (more…)

So it’s Friday, I’ve been able to drink beer all wekk, but for some reason, I’ve done nothing but drink IPA. I can’t explain it. Now, it’s true I love hops, and IPA and double IPA are some of the best ways to ghet that wonderful hop flavor. Dave’s beer bracket is looking good. So good that Great Lakes Brewing News copied the idea. We, I’m not sure about that, but they have their own bracket going, but this is strictly for the IPA. Read a little more, click the link, and vote. You have until tomorrow to make predictions. After that the bracket begins. (more…)

There are a lot of awards going around at this time of year, but I think this one tops all, better than an Oscar, a Grammy, or even winning your fantasy football league. On Saturday, February 23, 2008, Wynkoop Brewing company will name the 2008 Beer Drinker of the Year. (more…)

When you haven’t had a beer for three weeks, you’ll do a lot to get just the right beer. When I knew I would be without beer for a while I told my wife that we were going to Russian River Brewing on February 18th for dinner. I was going to have a pint of Pliny the Younger. This was the plan. The best-laid plans of mice and men often go awry. (more…)

Uno the beagle has nothing on this weekend’s big winner. For those that don’t know, Toronado’s barleywine festival took place this weekend. This is the biggest of the big barleywine festivals for the biggest of the big beers. So who competed? Who won? And what’s with the dog reference? (more…)

So, apparently, I’m pretty harsh on Sam Adams. Maybe I put down their beers once in a while. Does it mean I think they are bad people? Well it’s obvious they aren’t. Jim Koch choo-choo-choosed all of us for Valentine’s Day by deciding to “share” the bountiful hop contracts of Sam Adams with small brewers. (more…)
